"I must say the story itself is captivating and I'm emotionally connected, in tears at times, to these characters. It's easy to get caught up in a good story but when I think about REAL people going through this torture in Cambodia, it's truly heartbreaking."
"This is a powerful story, powerfully told. You've skillfully woven the past and present storylines together for a good read."
"I had the pleasure to read an early draft of this novel a short time ago. The escape from the Killing Fields of Cambodia is a well-written and suspenseful story that kept me turning pages. This is a powerful book covering a time and place not usually taught in our history classes here in the US, and one that definitely should be. The authors draw parallels to modern times that are sure to be thought-provoking and controversial. Even if you disagree with their conclusions, you owe it to yourself to read this harrowing tale of one family's escape from certain death."
